(Texarkana, USA—June 27, 2019) – Farmers Bank & Trust recently donated $5,500 to LifeNet for four defibrillators. The state-of-the-art automated external defibrillator will be housed at all four Farmers Bank & Trust locations for public use. Additionally, several Farmers Bank & Trust employees received training on the AEDs. According to the National Safety Council, quick access to an automatic external defibrillator (AED) by an engaged bystander could increase the odds of survival from about 5% to 40% and higher.

James Bramlett, Farmers Bank & Trust Texarkana Market President, said, “With a giving mission to help fund wellness in our communities, Farmers Bank & Trust is proud to donate to provide defibrillators to the public. We are delighted to partner with LifeNet to deliver quality healthcare to the citizens of Texarkana.”

“When someone goes into sudden cardiac arrest, the goal is to get the AED to them within three to five minutes.  Our goal is to improve survival rates for victims of cardiac arrest by working with area businesses to get AEDs placed on every street corner. When Farmers Bank & Trust learned about this goal, they quickly accepted the challenge to help us place more AEDs in the community.  We are grateful they have stepped up to make both their workplace and our community more cardiac safe.  We hope more businesses will follow them and invest in AEDs,” said David Baumgardner, CEO of LifeNet.

Farmers Bank & Trust currently has four full service locations in Texarkana that now house the AEDs. The locations are: 2900 St Michael Drive and 5600 Richmond Road in Texarkana, TX and 1102 Arkansas Boulevard and 3601 E. 9th Street in Texarkana, AR.
